

Fire and Ice - Chapter FourCh. 4 Dameon limped back to the cave. By wrapping his tail around his leg as a splint he could walk, barely. Heavily concussed, he wandered right on his good leg. He grabbed one of the corpses and began dragging it away. He stumbled and fell, and was dimly aware of Crystal helping him stand up and walk to his part of the cave. As they passed the various lava pools and geothermal vents a thought pierced the fog in his brain. All the heat must be causing her a great deal of pain. He stopped her “Here is good” She lowered him against a wall “You get some rest” He murmured “Thank you.” The next day he staggered outside. AFire and Ice - Chapter Four


Fire and Ice - Chapter ThreeCh 3 Crystal swung a wide blow at Dameon’s knee. He spun inside of her reach and kicked her arm away. At this range his shorter weapons had the advantage, long hunting knives held backhanded. He continued to turn, using his shoulder to knock her off balance, and pressed a knife to her neck. She dropped her sword and backed away. He lifted the weapon on his foot and hefted it to her “again”. They were sparring with wooden weapons they had carved for this exact purpose. Fire and Ice - Chapter TwoFire and Ice: Ch 2 A little while meant days, then it became weeks, then months. Before they knew it, eight years had passed. A grunt came from the trees and a deer’s corpse was thrown into the clearing before the cave. Dameon stepped out from the trees. In eight years he had come into his man’s growth. He now stood a little over six feet, broad of shoulder and narrow of waist, with an impressive sixteen-foot wingspan. A life of hard work, fighting, and outdoor life had left him powerfully muscled and tanned. Crystal came out of the cave to see what the noise was. Fire and Ice - Chapter OneA crashing sounded through the forest mingled with the shouting of angry voices. A dark shape sped ungracefully through the trees. Dameon was grouping up. In the three years since the destruction of his village he had been hunted and attacked constantly. He was growing into a warrior, discovering himself to be slightly stronger and faster that the average human. His flight was clumsy as he dodged through the trees. A large branch hit his wing as he came to a clearing and he fell.
